Leica Q3 / Q3 43 case.
Tpye 2-TR
(Old title : Type 3)
Snap button fixed type / battery & SD card door / tripod hole
Sample leather - Rally volpe (vegetable tanned / Italy)
Thread - Light brown (Serafil / German)
.
In the case of the Leica Q3, which has a narrow bottom space configuration, it is difficult to pack all the functions into one case without restrictions,
so we have prepared a lineup of four types of cases as shown below.
We developed two types of new screws and developed Type 1-SD and Type 2-TR (formerly Type 3) with additional functions
based on the basic models Type 1 (screw locking type) and Type 2 (snap button locking type). I did it.
The functions are as follows:
.
Type | Fixed type | Battery charge | Photo file transfer | Use a tripod |
Type 1 | Screw fixed | Battery door / Wired connection | Wired connection / Wireless | O |
Type 1-SD | Screw fixed | Battery & SD card door / Wired connection | Battery & SD card door / Wired connection / Wireless | X |
Type 2 | Snap button fixed | Battery & SD card door | Battery & SD card door / Wireless | X |
Type 2-TR | Snap button fixed | Battery & SD card door | Battery & SD card door / Wireless | O |
This post is about the Type 2-TR model, which adds the Tripod hole system to Type 2 using a new metal part.
(The tripod hole is installed in the case and is not directly connected to the camera.)
.
The newly introduced independent tripod hall system,
* The metal part in the photo is a concept product, and details such as size, material, coating, and shape of the metal part may change.
The tripod hole system enables tripod use without removing the case.
In the case of the Leica Q3, the layout of the lower part (tripod hole, battery hole, memory cover, etc.) is too tight, so it is unreasonable to implement all the functions that can be implemented as a case at once.
For that reason, we have released two types of cases by combining limited functions based on the shooting style.
Type 1, which has a screw-type design and battery cover as an option, instead of a memory cover,
and Type 2, which adopts a snap-type design, adopts a double-folding battery & SD card door, and abandons the use of a tripod.
And here, we introduce the newly developed Type3, which did not exist in the options of Arte di mano.
The Type 3 is almost identical to the Type 2, which is basically a snap fixed design.
The only difference is the presence or absence of a tripod connection groove.
Unlike the tripod screw, the tripod hole system is not directly connected to the camera, but is an independent system that installs a metal with a tripod hole in the case.
Since it is not fixed directly to the camera but to the case, there may be some clearance when shooting vertically, but it is very stable for general horizontal shooting and is also sufficient for vertical shooting unless it is a long exposure.
This part will be replaced with a video after the official release soon.
The tripod hole is located below the center of the lens, allowing for more stable use.
Of course, a tripod hole independent of the function of Arte di mano existed before, but the key to this Q3 project was the volume of space it occupied.
Since this was an issue that could not be solved with existing systems, except for space constraints and the minimum border required to implement the hinge function, we developed metal parts of the minimum size that could provide a very tight space and provide stable performance.
It's a simple difference, but it took a lot of trial and error to add this one feature, and the actual work process involved quite a bit of cumbersome work.
However, as always, I do not hesitate to take the next step because I know the value of the results that come out of such a complex process. :)
.

.
Battery & SD card access door system,
Arte di mano's proprietary battery door system is a simple system using magnets. It was developed for the first time in Korea and is an optional option that has a ripple effect enough to be imitated by related brands in other countries, including Italy.
Concerns about the shape of the battery door of the Leica M digital camera, and the multi-stage battery door introduced in Q2 also attempted for better convenience and the first success in the world market was made at Arte di mano.
Arte di mano's stubborn philosophy on the design of traditional leather products, material processing technology, and craftsmanship have resulted in a design achievement that secures convenience while maintaining a traditional appearance as a leather product.
Now, the battery door-type cases using magnets that can be found commonly in the world market are all products made after the success of Arte di mano.
We never stop challenging ourselves to do better today. That's why our system is always evolving one step further today than yesterday.
Step 1,
If you use it like a normal battery door, the first door will open and you can use it as a battery door.
Compared to the previous model, more than twice as much magnetic force and more appropriate magnetic force distribution provide more stable 1st and 2nd door functions and separate usability.
Step 2.
Hold the open battery door and pull lightly once more to open the SD card slot door.
SD cards can be replaced safely and quickly with the case on.
.

In addition, the texture of the surface is very soft and moist due to the sufficiently absorbed wax and oil content. This is another kind of texture that can be found in the hybrid type, which is different from the vegetable type. Like Bridle, when not used often, the wax component inside the leather cuts off the surface to form a white powdery film, and when used again, the wax component melts again and penetrates to restore the original surface texture. This is the original leather of HAAS, France, which is a supplier of High-end luxury brands, and is used by the brand to create vegetable-looking tan or black products.

.
Ostrich leather
(Real ostrich, Africa)
Extra cost : USD 350.00
Finish - Matt type
Ostrich skin is a special skin that is used exclusively for the finest productions, along with crocodile skin in most brands. It is characterized by the appearance of feathery pores called Quill Marks. The grade of the ostrich hide is determined by how evenly and beautifully this Quill mark is. A price of each ostrich skin costs about the same as a crocodile skin. Of course, it is very large compared to the crocodile, but the quill mark is actually very narrow.
Apart from the price, there is also a great difficulty in workability. The tricky thing about ostrich leather is to adjust the thickness first. In general, in order to produce small items, the thickness of each part is adjusted in various ways to suit the needs-In the case of ostrich leather, this is a leather that requires considerable technical proficiency and experience because of the difference in thickness of quill mark .
However, the peculiar details and beautiful quillmark texture of the ostrich leather product completed through the process are well worth enduring all the trouble and annoyance.
.

In the case of glossy type crocodile leather, the light disappears if it is not managed while using it, whereas the matte type crocodile leather has the charm that natural light comes up nicely while using it and ages over time. The matte type with less surface treatment process is more expensive because it uses better hides than the glossy type.
If you meet the work of Arte di mano, which combines the finest crocodile leather manufactured by Henglong, and the refined Arte di mano's hand-crafted technology recognized in the world market, I am sure that you will not be able to meet any more materials and quality.

The feature of the snap fastening system is that it is free to attach and detach.
Basically, the screw type does not support USB/HDMI wired connection and tripod mount use with the case attached.

Ostrich skin is a special skin that is used exclusively for the finest productions, along with crocodile skin in most brands.
