How to install skin

The reference photo is for the M10 model. For the D-Lux series, no disassembly is required, so no dedicated tools are needed.

1. Carefully remove the existing skin. Please make sure no residue remains, as any remaining debris may cause unevenness in the new skin or affect the final fit.

2. Align each new skin piece one side at a time, using the strap lug holes as positioning guides.
Tip: If your fingers touch the adhesive side of the skin, the adhesive strength may be reduced. For easier installation, peel back and fold the backing paper, or reattach it to the area where your fingers will hold the skin, as shown in the photo.

3. Use the plastic folder included with the skin purchase to press down the corners and edges thoroughly so that no areas lift.
(The plastic folder is included only for self-installation orders.)
Finally, it is complete.
Color chart

[Texture series] Epsom
Textured leathers is basic option
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
Epsom, also known as Saffiano, is a newly introduced basic leather for skin work with a fine crosshatched texture. It is resistant to scratches and retains its original color well over time. This leather has been selected with strap matching in mind.

[Texture series] Cross Epi
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
Cross Epi is a leather with overlapping fine wave-like textures. The angle of the overlapping pattern may vary from leather to leather. It is resistant to scratches and retains its original color well over time. This leather has been selected with strap matching in mind.

[Texture series] Lizard Emboss
* It is not real lizard
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
Lizard Emboss is embossed leather with a lizard pattern stamped onto the surface. It is not real lizard skin and does not have the luxurious natural gloss of genuine lizard, but it features a refined pattern that closely resembles the real material and vivid colors that naturally draw attention. It is resistant to scratches and retains its original color well over time. This leather has been selected with strap matching in mind.

Dollaro
(Vegatable tanned, Italy - Walpier)
Extra cost : USD 30.00
Available straps : All types available.
Finish - Natural glossy type, Embossed(Shrunken pattern), Hand brushed two tone dye / Hardness - ★★★★☆
2017 New leather article. Hard type / Strong with scratch
This is a new article developed by Walpier, a renowned Italian tannery best known for Buttero. Based on Buttero’s hide-processing and dyeing methods, the surface is embossed with a natural pattern and then hand-dyed one by one, creating a two-tone effect in which the raised areas become darker. The result is a leather with a natural gloss and a strong impression.
Vegetable-tanned leather naturally develops signs of use over time, but Dollaro has a much harder surface than ordinary vegetable-tanned leathers, making it highly resistant to scratches among vegetable-tanned leathers.

Goat
(Chrome tanned, Alran - France)
Extra cost : USD 30.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage or combination with other leather.
Finish - Matt type, Natural goat pattern / Softness - ★★☆☆☆
Alran in France is a tannery that supplies leather to luxury houses including Hermès and is renowned for producing some of the finest goat skin. Goat leather is soft yet highly durable.
It is resistant to scratches and retains its original color well over time. With a wide range of colors and a goat-specific emboss that resembles the original vulcanite texture, it is frequently chosen for skin work. However, because it is goat leather and the hide size is relatively small, the range of compatible straps is limited.

Struzzo
(Vegatable tanned, Italy - Walpier)
Extra cost : USD 40.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
Based on Buttero’s hide-processing and dyeing methods, the surface is embossed with an ostrich pattern and then hand-dyed one by one, creating a two-tone effect in which the raised areas become darker. The result is a leather with a natural gloss and the distinctive look of ostrich leather.
We have received many inquiries about ostrich leather skins. However, genuine ostrich leather is not well suited for leather skin production because its leather structure and raised quill marks make stable thickness adjustment difficult. Leica’s own à la carte option also uses cowhide embossed with an ostrich pattern. For that reason, while searching for an embossed leather with a pattern close to genuine ostrich, we came across Struzzo by Walpier, a respected producer of vegetable-tanned leather. You can now enjoy a skin with a unique ostrich-like pattern.

Pueblo
(Vegatable tanned, BADALASSI CARLO in Italy)
Extra cost : USD 40.00
Available straps : All types available.
Finish - Matt type, Art finish by steel ball / Hardness - ★★★☆☆
Pueblo is an art-finished leather from Badalassi Carlo, the tannery that also produces Minerva Box. It is made by rolling specially made steel balls over Minerva leather before box finishing, creating fine intentional scratches on the surface for texture and detail. On the hide, it may even look similar to damaged leather, but once made into a finished piece, you can see a texture that goes beyond simple distressing and becomes an artistic expression. Please be sure to refer to the finished examples. This is a popular leather with growing worldwide demand. It is not especially scratch-resistant, but because it already has natural-looking surface marks, it is a leather for those who enjoy the beauty of wear over time. Recommended for those who like a vintage feel.

Camoflage
(Vegatable tanned, Italy - La Perla Azzurra)
Extra cost : USD 40.00
Available straps : All types available.
Finish - Matt type, Milling / Hardness - ★★☆☆☆
This camouflage-pattern leather is made by Azzurra, a tannery that produces vegetable-tanned leather. Many tanneries attempt camouflage patterns, but the variation in pattern quality can be very large. It is rare to find a leather that feels this natural while preserving the appeal of vegetable-tanned leather. Azzurra’s camouflage leather is especially enjoyable in that respect.

Vegetable white
Extra cost : USD 40.00
Available straps : All types available.
Top grade durable and pure white tone leather.
This leather is made by bleaching and pigment-dyeing vegetable-tanned leather to create a white tone. Finding a complete white tone in leather that pairs well with a camera is always challenging. This leather has a natural, not overly processed surface texture and is recommended for those who enjoy white leather.

Shrenken-calf
(Chrome tanned, Germany - LEDERFABRIK PERLINGER )
Extra cost : USD 50.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
Finish - Matt type, natural shrunken emboss / Softness - ★★★★★
Shrenken-calf is made from calfskin less than six months old, chrome-tanned and shrunken to contract the surface and create its distinctive shrunken pattern. It is characterized by a soft yet very elastic surface texture. Because it is chrome-tanned leather, it is not ideal for enjoying patina, but it is resistant to scratches and can preserve its original color and texture for a longer time. Its distinctive texture pairs very well with skin work.

Swift
(Chrome tanned, Germany - Perlinger)
Extra cost : USD 50.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage / Ordinary / Comodo FL / Classic FL
The original leather that Leica usually used for Hermes Edition.
Newly arrived Swift leather. Swift is a leather from the French tannery ROUX, and it is not only one of the leathers actually used by HERMÈS, but also a leather often used for Leica HERMÈS Edition models.
With a calm, slightly muted color tone and a soft touch, it is attractive not only for skin work but also for matching with straps. It is one of the most anticipated new leathers of this season.

Lizard skin
(Real lizard skin, glossy type)
Extra cost : USD 80.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage, or strap production using only the patch with another leather for the strap body.
Finish - Glossy
This is genuine lizard leather with many devoted fans. Unlike embossed types, it has an attractive natural gloss and a fine, dense surface pattern. Its high surface tensile strength makes it very durable. Among exotic leathers, it is available at a relatively reasonable price, which is why it is often chosen. The finished result in skin work is very bold and attractive.

Nile crocodile
(Henglong in Singapore)
Extra cost : USD 350.00
Available straps : Waxed cotton / Laccio / Heritage, or strap production using only the patch with another leather for the strap body.
Finish - Matt type, Belly (back cut)
* Arte di mano’s crocodile leather is supplied by Henglong of Singapore, a crocodile leather tannery of world-class scale and quality.
Henglong’s outstanding quality has long been recognized, and LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, owns a stake in the company.
It supplies leather for crocodile leather products within the group’s luxury brands.
The species is Nile crocodile, one of the most highly valued crocodile leathers along with Porosus saltwater crocodile and American alligator.
It is among the highest-valued crocodile leathers.
Choosing Henglong crocodile leather means choosing a leather for which it would be difficult to find a higher level of quality.
We are confident that Henglong’s Nile crocodile is unquestionably one of the finest leathers available.
